As the bulldozers to our north confirm, the City of Camarillo has approved-to-proceed several large development projects; the 1,440-home Springville Project on the Spanish Hills side of the 101 freeway, and the 338 acre Airport North Specific Plan along the other side of the 101, north of Home Depot. See our brochure.

Our 101 freeway corridor (aka “The Camarillo Crush”) is already filled to capacity on a daily basis. The Springville and Airport North Specific Plan projects will add over 5,000 car trips to our surface streets and freeway, every day.

Now the City of Camarillo is considering a proposal to develop the farmland to our south, the open agricultural floodplain you see as you come down the Conejo Grade between Camarillo Springs and Pleasant Valley/Santa Rosa Road. This Conejo Creek Properties project would convert 740 acres of “Prime” agricultural land into 2,500 homes and 150+ acres of industrial/commercial/retail development. This would result in another 10,000 – 15,000 daily car trips impacting our 101 freeway, particularly at the bottom of the Conejo Grade.

The Conejo Creek Properties Draft Environmental Impact Report is now to be submitted to the City Council mid-year 2011…with a 45 day public comment period at that time. If you would like periodic updates sent to you directly as information becomes available, please fill-in the contact info on our website contact page, or e-mail camarillosustainablegrowth@gmail.com.
